Humro Home Dawai Pani

Dawaipani is a village just 20 kms from Darjeeling town. It is a village on the hill at the back of Darjeeling town. If you have ever been to Darjeeling Mall and have seen the hills on the back of the town, Dawai Pani would be the village just opposite to you.

Home Stay

The Home Stay here is owned by Mr. Pravat Rai. It is a small wooden house with just two rooms and one toilet. So we prefer to let it to one family who can share the toilet. The Homestay is located on the main road and is easy to identify. The entire house is at your disposal, a group of up to 6 people may be accommodated here.

There are two rooms in the small hut, the larger room has two double beds and the smaller room has one double bed. Both rooms are wood panelled and has carpeting on the floor. The common toilet has western commode, running hot and cold water. The amenities are not luxurious but clean and cozy.

Our host Mr. Rai and his family prepares home cooked meal for our guests. You are offered Nepali and Bengali dishes. Standard meals are served, if you have special requirements for food, it is recommended you confirm the same with our reservation executive before confirming the booking as special requirements may not be served in this rural village. Any special orders are at the discretion of the host and must be ordered minimum 3 hours in advance.

The main attraction of Dawai Pani village is the grand view of Kanchenjunga range of hills with Darjeeling town in the foreground. Most tourists visit Dawai Pani to enjoy nature at its pristine best. There are forests all around the village where a variety of birds makes it an ideal birding destination.

Most tourists also avail the sightseeing that are available at Darjeeling from here. Darjeeling town is about 30 minutes drive (subject to traffic at Darjeeling town) so you can go to the town anytime you want if you have a vehicle at disposal. You can undertake all the sightseeing of Darjeeling town and yet stay in a secluded rural village.

Lamahatta, another popular tourist destination of the area, is just 10 kms and just 20 minutes drive away. You can enjoy all the local sights of Lamahatta such as the view point there.

Small walks in the forest and hikes to different areas around the village can be organised on advance notice. Trek to Darjeeling can also be organised from here which takes about three hours to reach on foot.

Getting There

Dawai Pani is off the Peshok Road that connects Darjeeling with Kalimpong. On the Peshok Road reach sixth mile Bazar first. About 500 meter from Sixth Mile Bazar, towards Darjeeling, you will find a small unnamed uphill road going towards the North. Follow this road and drive for about 5 kms to reach our Homestay.
