Humro Home Norbu Homestay Chatakpur is located at Upper Chatakpur in the Sonada area of Darjeeling. The homestay is located on the highest ridge of the village with a grand view of the mountains. Norbu started his homestay as a small accommodation and has grown to become a significant tourist accommodation. There are three rooms in the main building where the host lives, in the surrounding area the owner has now constructed several additional rooms. Norbu homestay is the first homestay to come under the Humro Home banner. This is a homestay in the Senchal forest with a grand view of Kanchenjunga and surrounding mountains.
Our Home Stay here is inside the Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary. There are several homestays in the village, the Humro Home Chatakpur is the topmost homestay in the village. Mr Norbu Sherpa is your host here. The Homestay was started in 2012 and presently offers 4 rooms for guest accommodation. The location of our homestay is advantageous as you get the best view of the surrounding mountains due to your stay at the top of the hill. Kanchenjunga can be seen from almost every room and corner of this Home Stay.
Guests must note that you will need to walk uphill about 200 meters from the car stand to reach Humro Home Chatakpur. There is a shortcut route through which the distance is reduced to about a hundred meters. Elderly and sick visitors must keep this in mind while booking. The path is also not suitable for disabled visitors using a wheelchair. You can consider the uphill walk akin to climbing a four-story building by stairs and you should be ready for the same.
The main viewpoint of the village located at the top of the hill is less than 100 meters from our Home Stay. This viewpoint offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the hills on a clear day.
Most tourists spend their day walking around the village or enjoying the grand mountain views. Just a few minutes walk will take you inside the forest, and you may visit the small lake that is worshipped by the locals.
However, avoid going deep inside the forest, especially during dawn and dusk. There is wildlife in the forest including the Himalayan Bear which has a history of attacking humans on some occasions. The best viewing spot is the viewpoint at the top of the village which has a watchtower, with a 360 degrees view of the surrounding hills. You will end up spending a substantial time here.

Location / Accessibility
Humro Home Chatakpur is our Home Stay at Chatakpur forest village near Darjeeling. Chatakpur has come into prominence in recent years due to the grand view of the surrounding mountains from here including a view of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Chatakpur is the hilltop next to the famous Tiger hill sunrise point. It is a small forest village with less than two dozen huts and its total inhabitants number less than a hundred. This makes Chatakpur one of the most exclusive and secluded tourist destinations in the region. Since you will be travelling through the forests, you will need permission and pay the entry fee. We will organize the same for our guests. Also, note that the road through the forest may be tricky for drivers unfamiliar with the terrain. So we do not recommend self-driving. High ground clearance of the vehicle is also a must.
