At an altitude of 5800 ft., Borong experiences pleasant weather all year round. Summer temperatures vary between 15 and 25 degrees. In winter, the maximum temperature would be around 10 degrees while minimum may fall below zero. It is advisable to carry light woolens in summer and a set of heavy ones if you visit during the winter months. South Sikkim experiences monsoons during the months of June to September, with heavy rains and strong winds.
Borong is a small hamlet in South Sikkim famous primarily for the numerous varieties of birds one can spot here. It is truly a birder's paradise and you can catch sight of species like Mrs.Gould's Sunbird, Blue-Fronted Redstart, Large Niltava and many more. Be sure to bring along your camera to shoot these beauties in their natural habitat.

Humro Home Ashwin Homestay is a single storied house mainly made of wood, with 2 rooms. The kitchen and dining area is on one side and the guest rooms on the other. Each room can accommodate up to 3 adults. Walk around to the back and spend some time on the balcony there which overlooks the dense forest behind the property. You can spot many birds from the balcony itself.
There is a television in the common sitting area and a dining hall.
You will be served organically grown vegetables. Non-vegetarian items on the menu are mainly chicken and eggs. Food is home cooked and tasty.
Our homestay here is located just beside the main road and hence is easily accessible. There is sufficient space to park vehicles on the roadside.

Route 1: Via Sevoke road on NH 31A, take a right turn to Melli check-post. Go past Kitam Bird Sanctuary, Damthang village, Rabongla and then to Borong. Route 2: Via Sevoke road on NH 31A, move straight ahead on NH 31A and instead of taking the right for Melli, Cross Rangpo, drive further ahead and take a left from Singtam. COntinue to Ravangla through some dense forest and then to Borong.
