Sittong is a hill with varied altitudes. The upper ridges of the hill reaches an altitude of close to 1400 meters whereas Jogighat has an altitude of just about 660 meters. Our lodge here is located at an altitude of about 840 meters. This makes the place quite suitable for travel all around the year. The winters are not chilling cold and the summers are not very hot either.
During summer the temperature rarely reaches above 25 degree Celsius and during the winter it rarely goes below 8. Rainy season in the region is very strong as the entire north east is among the wettest places in the world. You can expect heavy to very heavy rainfall during the monsoon months between middle of June and middle of September.
Sittong village is a popular tourist destination now. Sittong is a large area spread over several kms. Our present accommodation is in the middle Sittong area. This accommodation can be considered more as a lodge than a Homestay as it has total 7 rooms here and also the owner does not stay in the same building.
The location of the lodge in middle Sittong is an advantage. The large building can be seen from the entire surrounding area. The lodge is located on the main Sittong road and next to the popular Sittong Church.
The lodge is a 4 storied building located next to Sittong Church. There are 7 rooms all of which has attached toilets, there is an open garden area for you to enjoy the nature. The property is located right on the main road that passes through Sittong village.
The property has 7 rooms in total in the three floors. There is a reception cum seating area.
There is also a small garden where children can play around and adults a luxuriate. You can get an excellent view of the surrounding hills from the rooftop of the building as well as the Balconies. The first floor rooms each has its own balcony, the second floor rooms do not have balcony. All rooms have windows opening up to the hills.
Food is simple but hygienic. You get both vegetarian and non vegetarian food here. Bengali and Nepali meals are available here.
Food has to be ordered well in advance and there is no system of ordering based on menu. You have to order as a meal. Please note there is no local market or shop in the immediate vicinity of the property.
Sittong is a hill and is composed of several smaller villages within it. The upper Sittong area includes Mana and Ghalaytar whereas the lower Sittong area includes villages such as Jogighat and Sebjey Busty. This particular accommodation is in the lower Sittong area known as School Gaon. This is the most popular area in Sittong for homestays.
To locate the Lodge, ask anyone about the Sittong church. Our Sittong lodge is located adjacent to the Sittong Church and is one of the larger buildings in the area. The lodge is also located on the main road. So it is difficult to miss for anyone passing through the place.

There are 3 ways to reach this lodge. If you are coming from NJP / Bagdogra / Kalimpong or Sikkim side, you will first need to travel either to Selphu via Birik dara or Kalijhora on the National Highway 10. From Selphu the Sittong is just about 12 kms and any local person can give you the direction which is quite straightforward. The alternative road is to travel to Mongpu and from Mongpu drive down to Jogighat (6 kms). At Jogighat cross river Riyang and drive on for about 2 kms to reach this Homestay.
Those who are travelling here from Darjeeling, Kurseong or Mirik, may have to take a less travelled route. This route passes through Bagora and Mahaldiram before reaching Sittong.
