At an altitude of 5700 ft, Lamahatta has pleasant weather all the year round. During summer, day temperatures are around 20/22 degrees and night temperatures may go down to 14/15 degrees. In the winter months, day temperatures are around 11/12 degrees and nights can be at 4/5 degrees. The area experiences fairly heavy rainfall during the monsoons.
Lamahatta village is located at an altitude of about 5700 ft and is approximately 20 Kms from Darjeeling town. The localites are mostly Buddhist tribals like Dukpas, Sherpas and Yalmos. Lamahatta is surrounded by pine trees and offers a beautiful view of the Kanchanjungha range. The term Lamahatta is derived from 2 words, Lama meaning Monk and Hutta meaning Hut. In one word, it denotes a monk's abode.
Our homestay is located about 500 meters above the Lamahatta park just on the roadside.
Humro Home Yalmo was started 4 years ago with 2 rooms. It has now grown to a 4-room property, equipped to host 12 persons at a time. It is a single storey building with reception, rooms and dining hall all located on the ground floor.
The rooms have carpeted floors. The walls are brick and mortar.
The washrooms are Western style and fitted with geysers.
You will be served with both veg and non veg items during the major meals. For breakfast, you have puri sabji / roti sabji / choice of egg.
Food is sufficient and hygienically prepared prepared.
Situated close to the Lamahatta park, the hometay is surrounded by pine forests on one side and the Kanchanjungha range on the other, from behind the property.
