Host Info

Mr. Roshan Mukhia

Roshan and his wife Rashika belong to the small village of Toryok, situated in Sittong II. The couple started this homestay 2 years ago. They did not have sufficient funds to use bricks and cement, but instead were innovative enough to think of utilising local products like bamboo and mud to make a place with proper facilities like Western style washroom.

Roshan also owns an SUV and you can use his services as a driver and guide to explore the area. Rashika is a quiet, shy young girl who manages the kitchen and looks after the guests with a natural elan.

Village walks will keep you entertained and occupied. You can observe and take part in farming activities. Stroll through the orange orchard (Suntale garden) and hike down to Buddha Falls, which is about a kilometre from the property. You can also visit the Sherpa monastery.

Toryok is a birder's paradise. Since the weather is so amiable all year round and there is ample natural food for the avian species in the forest, you will not miss catching sight of many varieties of birds.

Things to See

You can visit Rabindranath Tagore's Smriti Bhavan at Mongpu. Ahal Dara viewpoint, Namthing Pokhri, Tamang Gumpha, Maldiram viewpoint are all a short drive away and can be visited during the day.
