Mr. Ashwin Mukhia is a young graduate whose father Mr.Nirmal is a local businessman. He built the homestay on his property while Ashwin was studying and it is now ready for occupation. The weather at Sittong area varies widely with altitude. Toryok is located in the upper ridges of Sittong II. The weather here is cooler. During the summer months of April – June the weather is comfortably warm. During day time you may not need woolens, but the evenings are cooler and warm clothing will be required. July to September is the rainy season. Rain here is heavy and the misty cloudy weather gives a magical look to the entire area. October and November are cold and temperatures may vary between 15 to 20 degrees during day time. However this is the best time to see the mountains from Sittong as after heavy rains, visibility is at its best. December to February are the winter months with temperatures varying between 5 to 15 degrees during day time. The overnight temperature may go to freezing point.
Toryok is located in Sittong II, which is basically upper Sittong. The population of Toryok is about 600 and the houses are located some distance away from each other, thereby giving the region a spread-out appearance. Even though it is a very small place, you will not feel that it is congested. As the entire region is a forest area, there are an innumerable variety of birds which are visible even from the lawn of our property.
The valley stretches out before you and the Riyang river meanders across it. If you walk up about 200 meters from the homestay, you can see the Kanchanjungha range before you. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful haven or getaway to unwind from your daily work pressures, this is the perfect place for you.
Humro Home Toryok Riyang Homestay is a modern 2 storeyed house. The ground floor has separate sitting and dining areas and there are 3 guest rooms towards the back. The homestay has another 5 rooms on the first floor. There is a boundary wall enclosing the property, with the main gate and parking space inside the premises.
Mr.Mukhia has his own orange garden next to the homestay and also does cattle farming and beekeeping, there is also a small pond full of fish which is part of his farming venture. They grow their own green vegetables organically and you will be served these fresh vegetables during mealtimes. He also dabbles in poultry farming. Another charming attraction here is a small wooden church located right beside the homestay.
All the washrooms are Western style and equipped with modern fittings and geysers.
